Effective 20 May 2026 · Open3D Viewer

Open3D Viewer is a viewing and inspection tool. The figures it shows are convenient estimates — not certified measurements or engineering output. Please read this page before relying on anything the app reports.

1. "As is", no warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, and non-infringement. You use the app at your own risk.

2. Measurement tool

The measurement tool reports an approximate straight-line distance between two points you tap on a model. Its result depends entirely on:

Do not use the measurement tool for manufacturing, engineering, construction, medical, legal, or any other purpose where dimensional accuracy matters. Always verify critical dimensions with proper measurement equipment and the source CAD data.

3. Print-readiness analysis

The print-readiness feature is a set of fast heuristics, not a slicer. It does not generate G-code and it does not replace a real slicing program (such as OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura, or Bambu Studio). Specifically:

Always run your model through your actual slicer with your actual settings before printing. We are not responsible for failed prints, wasted filament or resin, damaged print beds, nozzles, or printers, lost time, or any other loss arising from reliance on the app's print-readiness estimates.

4. Metadata

Triangle counts, vertex counts, material and texture counts, bounding-box dimensions, and volume are derived by parsing the file on your device on a best-effort basis. For some formats and some files these figures are estimated or approximate, and they may differ from what other software reports.

5. File conversion and export

Converting between formats (for example GLB to STL, or STL to GLB) is inherently lossy. Conversions may drop or alter materials, textures, colours, UV coordinates, animations, scene structure, units, or fine geometric detail. Always keep your original file. Verify any exported file before using it for any important purpose.

6. Format support

Open3D Viewer supports a range of 3D formats. Some — in particular FBX and 3MF — are supported on a best-effort ("beta") basis and may fail to open, may render incorrectly, or may display only partial geometry, materials, or animation. Augmented- reality preview is available only where the file format and device platform support it (USDZ on iOS, GLB on Android), and is not guaranteed on every device.

7. Augmented reality — use safely

When using the augmented-reality (AR) preview, stay aware of your physical surroundings. Do not use AR while walking in traffic, near stairs, ledges, water, machinery, or other hazards, or while driving. Keep a safe distance from people and objects. We are not responsible for any injury, collision, or damage that occurs while you use the AR feature. AR is provided by Apple ARKit / AR Quick Look and Google Scene Viewer; their behaviour is outside our control.

8. Third-party content and advertising

Advertising shown in the free version is supplied by Google AdMob and third-party advertisers. We do not create, endorse, verify, or control individual advertisements or the products, services, or websites they link to. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and that advertiser.

9. Device performance

Rendering large or highly detailed 3D files is demanding. Very large files may load slowly, render with reduced quality, or fail to load on devices with limited memory. The app applies a file-size limit for stability. Performance varies by device.

10. No professional advice

Nothing the app displays constitutes engineering, manufacturing, medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Do not rely on it as such.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of Open3D Viewer is not liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on the app or any figure, estimate, conversion, or preview it produces. Liability is limited as set out in section 10 of the Terms of Use. Nothing here removes statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
